Features
~~~~~~~~~~~
  • ANCIENT DANCES New Rhythm -- A collection of routines that captures the essence of Chinese classical dance in a neo-classical vocabulary incorporating technique, strength, and rhythm.
  • The Terra-cotta Warriors -- Pas de Quartre. With the sonorously rhythmic folk drum music of Jiangzhou, these warriors modeled after the terra-cotta figures from the Qin Dynasty (221-207 B.C.) portray the mettle of heroes.
  • Stepping to the Song -- A gold award winning group dance for women. It reproduces a popular song and dance form during the Southern and Northern Dynasty (420-389) in Chinese history.
  • The Soul of Hero -- This group dance expresses the masculine beauty of Chinese men, eulogizing the heroic spirit through the form of sword dance.
  • Rainbow and Drum -- Based on the dances in Han Dynasty (206 B.C.-220 A.D.) this piece features exaggerated extension of human body in movements with the sleeves as rainbow, and the intricate pattern of cross drum beating.
  • Ah Bing -- Latest creation by CPAA Artistic Director Yong Yao, choreographed to Ah Bing's most famous work for Erhu (Chinese violin). China National First Class Dance Artist Jian Fei Xu dances the part of young Ah Bing, perfectly matched with CPAA's principal dancer Zhou Hui as his beloved Hua-er. Erhu virtuoso Hong Wang performs live on stage as the elderly musician
.. and many more spectacular programs ...
