A 60-piece orchestra with members from Ballet San Jose Silicon Valley and San Jose Symphony conducted by Leo Eylar accompanies world-renowned artists in presenting their masterworks
Yellow River! An enchanting cross-culture experience that unites two masterpieces in music and dance the powerful contemporary dance suite Yellow River! and the Yellow River Piano Concerto will be performed live for the first time on the same stage. As choreographer of Yellow River! CPAA Artistic Director Yong Yao received the Gold Award of Masterpieces of the 20th Century in China. Dancers of BSJSV and CPAA perform the dance suite. The featured pianist is Dr. Jonathan Jou.
Butterfly Lovers Erhu Concerto. Composer Gang Chen rearranged his famous Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto for erhu (2-string Chinese violin). It will be performed by renowned erhu master Yongping Tian.
Manhua Gao, internationally acclaimed Soprano performs arias from Madame Butterfly and La Traviata, along with a selection of Chinese art songs.
From the East for Konghou (Chinese harp) and Strings, composed by CPAA Music Director Phil Young, is performed by Konghou virtuoso Junzhi Cui. Ms. Cui was instrumental in reviving the ancient Chinese harp that has been extinct for centuries.
